Nestled in beautiful Buttonwood Park, this 7-acre zoo provides generations of families with a connection to the natural world.
BPZOO is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our dynamic Events Team as an Events Assistant.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of various events held at the zoo, including but not limited to, birthday parties, onsite events and large multi weekend community events.
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be highly organized, and be able to work well with a diverse group of people.
Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and coordinating events, and on-site setup and breakdown.
Work closely with the Events Manager to ensure seamless execution of events.
Provide excellent customer service to event attendees and vendors.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall experience for event attendees.
Act as a liaison between the Events Team and other Zoo departments.
Manage registration and check-in process, including distributing wrist bands, and other materials when needed.
Ensure that all event equipment is set up and functioning correctly.
Troubleshoot any problems that arise during the event, including technical issues or unexpected guest concerns.
Ensure that the event space is clean and well-maintained throughout the event.
Provide feedback and suggestions for future events, based on attendee feedback and personal observations.
Communicate with front desk and Guest Services staff regarding each event:
number of attendees, name of staff host, time of event, etc.
Set up tables and chairs and decorate the space prior to the event and cleanup and break down tables and chairs after the event.
Requirements:
Neat and professional appearance Experience in Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in event planning or coordination is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people from all backgrounds.
Excellent customer service Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Ability to stand on your feet for an entire shift.
Weekend availability a MUST, both Saturday and Sunday & occasional evenings for events.
Ability to work well under pressure and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
Flexibility to work outside of traditional office hours, including evenings and weekends.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality events.
